Environmental Due Diligence and Compliance Services

Genesis offers a wide variety of environmental due diligence services including: Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and several other environmental assessment services. The central purpose of conducting a Phase I ESA is to record that a potential buyer has conducted all appropriate investigation into whether the previous ownership, and daily operations of the property are consistent with good commercial or customary practice. Our services are offered to financial lenders, investment entities, insurance firms, as well as individual purchasers of commercial, industrial, or residential property. Our environmental due diligence services include:

  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments

  • Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Compliance Inspections

  • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan Development and Compliance Inspections

  • Environmental Permitting and Compliance

  • Indoor Air Quality (including asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold

Corrective Action Services

In addition to due diligence assessments, Genesis has the capability to provide an array of corrective action services. Soil and groundwater remediation are a central focus of Genesis’s capability. Since much of the expenditures for environmental issues are related to remediation, Genesis recognizes that clear focus and effort must be placed in this area so that our clients’ costs can be significantly reduced.  Genesis has direct project experience involving the soil and groundwater remediation of Superfund sites, refineries, bulk fuel terminals, automotive repair facilities, train rail yards, gas stations, wood processing facilities, chemical plants, and various commercial and industrial sites. Our corrective action services include:

  • Remedial Alternative Evaluation/Technology Screening

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) Services

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large class of synthetic chemicals that present numerous analytical challenges, including their widespread presence in a variety of environmental samples, occurrence of isomers for some compounds, and precursor transformations that may occur during preservation and storage of the samples. The strength of the carbon-fluorine bond in all PFAS creates attractive characteristics for industrial applications, and they are used in our everyday lives, including many consumer products for stain resistance, non-stick materials and waterproofing. The very characteristics that made PFAS attractive for application in industrial and commercial industries have made them problematic in our environment as they are very resistant to degradation. PFAS are known to be:

  • Limited sorption to soil and sediments

  • Highly water soluble, non-volatile and extremely mobile in water

  • Exceptional stable

  • Persistent with extraordinarily little attenuation

  • Widely present in the environment

Genesis has extensive experience sampling groundwater, surface water, potable water, wastewater effluent and biosolids to help better understand the extent of the impacts. Genesis can provide environmental services to meet client needs and budget constraints to alleviate actual and perceived risks. Currently, there are no federally enforced environmental standards, however where PFOS and PFOA exceed the USEPA health advisories or state regulatory requirements, drinking water must be addressed through intervention. Our PFAS services include:

  • PFAS Site Assessment and Sampling

  • Remediation management and solutions including

  • Excavation

  • Soil Incineration

  • Groundwater extraction and treatment with active carbon or ion-exchange polymer

  • Off-site release mitigation

  • PFAS waste management
